Lesley
Gibbons ART
Lesley is an abstract artist based in Samford, Australia. She is best known for her colourful paintings, often depicting larger than life Australian birds and botanicals.
Each piece begins with spontaneous and decorative mark making before bold blocks of colour are added. The canvas is finally embellished with outlines and expressive patterns bringing the design elements into focus. Although abstract in artistic style, Lesley often incorporates realistic features showcasing her connection with nature.
Lesley works out of her studio retreat and draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape. She studies the beauty and obscurities in nature with the intention of producing her next playful body of work.
Art has always been an inseparable part of Lesley’s personal and professional teaching life. Only in recent years has she had the opportunity to simply nurture that passion for art making and create artwork that will bring joy, fun and beauty into homes.
